Mandala Quilting
Helene Knott, Instructor
Saturday, March 28, 2020
9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Hudson Plaza
Workshop Fee: $65
(plus a $4 lab fee payable to the instructor)
In this workshop you will discover several methods of creating and stitching Mandala (medallion) type designs that can transform even a simple quilt into an exquisite piece of artwork. Some methods will demonstrate precision stitching while others will embolden you to take the plunge into improvisational ‘design as you go’ creations.
In class you will learn how to draft your own improvisational Mandalas (or cheat and use one of the teachers designs). The class is geared towards confident beginners and up; though you need not be an advanced quilter it will help to have familiarity with basic free-motion stitching. In the workshop you will find your inner child who loved to make paper snowflakes or doodle (or wished you could). The process is easier than in seems. You don’t need to have precise drawing skills, just have fun with pencil and thread.
Helene has been teaching fiber and quilting classes since 1999. She also designs quilting patterns commercially and is an in-house designer for Story Quilts. She was one of the featured artists at the 2019 Northwest Quilting Expo. Perhaps you saw her exquisite and memorable quilts.
