When Linda Gillins joined MPS in February, she had no idea her membership would come with a bonus. Linda was the lucky winner of a ticket to the Ricky Tims Super Quilt Seminar March 31-April 2. Her name was drawn in a raffle drawing at the Feb. 26 guild meeting. Congratulations, Linda!
We asked Linda to tell us a bit about herself.
“Quilting is embedded in my genes,” Linda says, “as I come from a long line of quilters. My first quilts were for dolls. Home dec and garment sewing as well as knitting brought many rewards.
“Early in my quilting life, hand quilting was dominant. But then came the rotary cutter, lots of quilting tools, and so many wonderful fabrics! I shifted to machine quilting trying to keep up with all the quilts in my head.”
For the past decade, Linda has been connected to quilting communities through her volunteer work with Providence Passage and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as well as Outdoor School and Festival of Trees auctions.
“Joining a quilt guild has been on my bucket list,” says Linda. “January brought retirement after 31 years as a nurse practitioner at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Portland and in February I joined MPS. Thank you for the wonderful welcome!”
