Are you ready to turn over a new leaf?
Award-winning art quilter Pat Pauly is coming to town in October to teach a workshop for MPS called “The New Big Leaf.”
Pat, who lives in Rochester NY, is known for her strong compositions. She creates contemporary works of art that have a modern sensibility yet maintain a connection with traditional quilts. Bold colors and unusual combinations of fabric are hallmarks of her work in fiber arts.
Both Pat’s quilts and her workshops are described as “energized, spontaneous, and artistic,” In this workshop for MPS, Pat will teach you how to build a large graphic leaf using a freezer paper template to make a 24″ square wall hanging such as this one:
:
. . . or you can combine additional blocks to make a stunning 48″ quilt. Here is Pat’s version:
According to Pat, this is a great project for using your accumulated scraps. Batiks, solids, textures, smaller scale prints, hand dyed fabrics, and wild graphics all work wonderfully in this quilt.
