This is a group of 6 quilters who have come together to form The Storytellers. They are each very unique individual quilters, but have formed this group to spend time together, share quilting life, and to challenge each other each year to a different theme. They have been showing their work at the Northwest Quilting Show, and at other venues.
Their work stood out to me at the Northwest Quilt Shows during 2018, and 2019- my first two visits to the show. What I really enjoyed was that they often used examples from Portland, and the Northwest as material for their work.
Here is how they view Storytelling:
“Storytelling is a tradition in all cultures, first as oral and pictorial such as cave paintings. Our group was formed because we all wanted to continue that tradition by using quilts to present visual stories.”
“Our most recent challenge was to explore stories about “Cities. Without timelines (or deadlines), we will add our visual stories, each exploring new visions of cities.”
In 2018, their theme was Cities and here are a few examples.
This year the theme was Architecture, and here are a few of my favorite examples.
