Greetings MPS members!
I am enjoying a coolish breeze through my sewing room windows now, but clearly recall in every pore of my body the swelter of the last few days and am very glad for this change! At this writing, the weather forecast for our “much looked forward to” silent auction next Tuesday is 79 degrees! May it be so!
I want to thank the many members that stepped up to help with the various jobs that go along with our upcoming silent auction. It will indeed take many hands and I appreciate that the VAMPF co-chairs now have all the help that they need to make it run smoothly.
For all of us ready to bid on the treasure of items that will be offered, I make one suggestion: Practice your signature! I certainly wonder how many times I will write my name on bid sheets next Tuesday……If the past is any indicator, I just might have writer’s cramp!
Another thing to look forward to is the Membership Drive that will happen all month in September. The Board has decided to keep our dues at the current rate of $40 for the year. Isn’t that a super bargain???? After September 1st, the options to renew are on our website’s home page, (just click on the Membership button). One is an online option and one is a paper form option. Both are easy to do and satisfying to complete!
I hope that you are thinking about your 2023 Challenge quilt around the theme of Heritage on a Small Scale. This does NOT need to be a super fancy art quilt! You know that, right? It is just a sweet opportunity to use fabric to tell others about your story or your history or a little about yourself. There is zero pressure to design it yourself. Maybe there is a favorite quilt block that you can use to share a piece of your “her”-story. I hope that you can have fun with this challenge; I know that I am, even if I am only in the marinating stage.
Well, see you on Tuesday! I can’t wait to see what is offered at our silent auction!
Peace,
Ruthann M, MPS Chair
I am out of town for the auction but I know our members will have so many opportunities to pick up treasures! Working on ideas for my Challenge Quilt. Red and white for my Canadian roots? Water/Ship theme for my growing up in Astoria? What block would represent these themes? Easy to interpret using a block without creating an art quilt! What ideas do you have?
