A few months ago, I happened upon this fabric line while perusing an online fabric shop. I’d never heard of Tilda Fabrics, so I thought I’d learn more about it.
Turns out, the fabric brand was created by the Norwegian designer, Tone Finnanger in 1999. Currently, Tilda Fabrics introduces three design collections a year. And included in these collections are things like buttons, ribbons, kits and other accessories The designs are pretty and there are very nice colorways in each collection.
But what really caught my eye was all her free patterns. There are many and they range from easy to “challenging”. They are listed on the website by collection. The quilts are stunning and fun. I can’t decide which one is my favorite. The patterns are in PDF form and are easy to download. They are also very thorough.
The fabric collections are only sold to wholesalers, so you and I can’t order directly from them. But Hawthorne Supply Company, an online store based in upstate New York, has fabrics from her “Pie In The Sky” and “Bloomsville” lines.
You can visit Tilda’s World by clicking the button below. You’ll find the link to the free patterns in the menu along the top of the site. There is also a button for the Hawthorne Supply Company in case you’re interested in purchasing some of the fabric. Just search “Tilda” in the top left corner of the site.
I don’t feel like I’ve seen anything like these collections before, which is why is was intrigued in the first place. But maybe you have seen them locally at a shop nearby. Am I the last one to the party? Let us know in the comments below!
Did you look at the patterns? Did you like them? Do you have a favorite? Drop an comment below, and let us know.
Oh my! I could get lost in the Free Patterns tab. Now, how do I decide which pattern to try first? Thanks Dianne. I appreciate your sharing your discoveries.
I have known of Tilda for a number of years. I love her fresh, happy colors! My favorite pattern is the snowmen. I enjoyed seeing her new patterns done in her solid fabrics.
Wow! I hadn’t heard of this line either. I’m going to spend some more time looking at patterns (I’ve seen a couple that I’m really intrigued by). And I LOVE her fabric.
A new obsession! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for introducing me to Tilda’s World – fun patterns. And a couple of years ago, you introduced me to Hawthorne supply – they have a great inventory of fabrics and are fast and reasonable with delivery. The Tilda Quilts as beautiful – I appreciated the beautiful quilting that seemed to elevate the quilt’s design.
Love the patterns and fabrics. thanks for sharing. Marilyn
Boy, someone’s been busy. Beautiful fabrics and fun patterns. Thanks for sharing. Jean K
Pioneer Quilts often carries Tilda too.
Thank you Dianne for alerting us to these beautiful patterns, and really interesting fabrics. I like how they also have some plain coordinating fabrics available. I have one pattern in mind.
As for finding Tilda fabric locally, The Pine Needle just started care it, but the number of bolts was limited. My go to has primarily been an online shop called Got Kwilts in Redmond Washington.
Ive lived in Tilda’s world for years. Most of my favorite quilts have been made with Tilda fabrics. I’m currently working on two quilts using her fabrics.

I think you mean Montavilla Sewing Center in Lake Oswego, which took over the building the Pine Needle was in until it closed in 2018. BTW, someone just yesterday told me that Cedar Ridge Quilts in Oregon City is carrying the entire Bloomsville line!! Oooh, I am so tempted . . .
