“Striped in Acrylic and Watercolor” I love stripes and I love using them in this block. Using up my stash in preparation for our auction.

“Fall Foliage” The minute I saw this block, I knew it would be a beautiful quilt in fall fabrics. I used batiks and grunge fabrics for the leaves. It was looking just okay when I was laying them out side by side but when I set them on point, it really had energy! It is our church’s annual raffle quilt and was quilted by another member in the church who is also a long armer.

“Gordon’s Birthday Quilt” My longtime trainer and friend (Gordon Bell, owner of Energy Fitness Concepts) turned 50 in August. He often says “Every day is training day!”, and I wanted to celebrate that with a sofa quilt for “watching football and drinking beer”! This is my own design.

“Dot Dash” Bundle Challenge Winner from August STI. Navy, Aqua, Lime and Rose solids in bundle. Inspired by a pattern but too cheap to buy it so I made my own version. Side by side photos show what a difference a change in the border can make. And a squeeze/slice of lime always adds flavor.

“Cool Breezes” So excited when I found blue and green striped fabrics in my stash. Perfect for this project. Had to piece some of the “solid” sections. Combination of straight line and dot to dot ruler work used to quilt. I love to finish my borders with Mackenzie loops.

“Thousand Oaks” I like broderie perse so the border is my original design.Joyce "Thousand Oaks"

“Snug as a Ladybug” This quilt was made for my husband’s grand-niece Ashley and her husband to be, for their wedding. She likes emerald green and I used the ladybugs as a contrast. Simple designs show off the colors well. The only problem I had was that my longarm died in the middle of quilting the quilt. All is well now, after repair, and I finished it about a week early. I used a pantograph for the quilting design.

“Four Square Comfort” I cleaned out my mini charm stash and made 4-patches from the charms. Using my design wall, I laid out the four patches in a clockwise spiral. I put it together using a spider web chain piecing technique.

“At the Corner of Cheddar and Indigo” I happened upon a free pattern called Floating Squares by Carried Away Quilting and quickly pulled out my stash of cheddar and indigo fabrics left over from another project. “At the Corner of Cheddar and Indigo” is the result.

I was a pattern tester for Vela (Jennifer @slightlybiasedquilts on Instagram).
