“Baseball Season” means deciding on a handwork project to do while watching games. My husband and I follow several teams but the NY Yankees are a favorite. The lap quilt is for my husband’s gray truck – hand pieced and hand quilted for a truck! Fun project but also happy to end it when I ran out of one fabric. Now on to an embroidery project for the 2024 baseball season.

“Happiness” Candy Grisham’s helpful tips and creativity with Dresden Plates was inspiring. My niece is having her first child, a girl, and the bright flowery fat quarter bundle was perfect for a quilt. Circles are turned edge and machine stitched. Quilted with flower impression and leaves as an overall design.

“Birthday Banner” My grandson’s 12th birthday banner. My grandson has ‘great feet’! Loves to tap dance and his soccer team has won state the last three years.

“Diamonds in the Rough” At an MPS quilt retreat several years ago we were all invited to bring the ugliest fabric in our stash and there would be a vote on which was truly the ugliest. I won and got to take all of the “uglies” home with me. My first thought was “Okay, I’ll show you they can be beautiful.” Did I succeed? The back is made with pieces of the “ugly” fabrics.

“Free Delight” This quilt was made for Lullaby Quilts. It started with a panel I picked up at a Lullaby meeting. The sashing and border fabric was a piece I received in a Lullaby Christmas exchange and the backing fabric was on the free table at MPS.

“Happy Spring” This quilt was made for a challenge in a small group I belong to. We were to make a small quilt with flowers. We were given the dark green fabric to include, and were to choose the other colors from a scrap pile at our meeting. I added the cream background.

“Honeycomb Hexagon” I really enjoyed hearing Krista Moser speak to our guild and loved this quilt pattern. So, I bought the fabric pack on her website for a twin sized quilt and made a lap size one instead and used the extra blocks for a table runner and 3 hot pads.

“Twisted Heart” I was making this quilt for my mother for Valentine’s day, but did not get it completed so I am giving it to her for Mother’s Day. The first picture is the finished quilt. Second picture is the pieced top after twisting it. Third picture is of the quilt cut up with the Twister tool.
