My grandson who loves to play the Minecraft video game is turning 8 on July 6. He even dressed up as Steve, one of the main characters, for Halloween last year. That was the inspiration for my quilt. I hadn’t made him a quilt since he was born and he was due!
Most of the blocks came from Kelli’s website although I did design the axolotl and bee blocks myself. He loves it!

Isabella’s Quilt, 40″ x 44″, was made for a new great granddaughter born in April. I took one block from the pattern “Star Stream” by Chasing Tigers and supersized it. Instead of using one background fabric, I used several light to medium light greens from my stash to create a low-volume background. The quilting motif is “Sashay” from Anne Bright designs, quilted by Karlee Sandell.

I was fascinated by the technique from Christie’s workshop. I had a table with a water stained top that would benefit from a table topper. I started with fabrics from my stash. I ended up needing more of both the ombré and the black. I was able to find more if both. This is 20X40” and required 200 background squares, 400 black flaps & 100 windows. Not sure I’d want to do one much larger.

Quilt Pattern – Meadowland by Then Came June
Fabric – Batik fat quarter pac
20 fat quarters with 1 and 3/4 yards background fabric

This quilt was made with my quilting friends as a Sew Along.
Three of us used the same 20 batik fabrics. We all used different backgrounds. All the quilts look so different.
